Lets Find Calm Together

Private Psychotherapy in Canary Wharf

Struggling to cope with life’s challenges? You’re not alone. We provide confidential psychotherapy for professionals navigating anxiety, burnout, addiction, trauma, relationships and significant life change.

PSYCHOTHERAPY FOR THE PRESSURES OF CITY LIFE

Working in the City can bring significant opportunities, but it can also mean long hours, demanding expectations, intense competition and little time to switch off. Over time, that pressure can affect your anxiety, relationships, confidence, sleep, mood and overall sense of wellbeing.

Psychotherapy provides a confidential space away from the demands of work to understand what's happening, address underlying issues and find healthier ways to manage both professional and personal life.

We help with:

    • Managing sustained pressure, exhaustion, overwhelm and difficulty switching off.

    • Understanding anxiety, perfectionism, self-doubt and the pressure to continually perform.

    • Creating healthier boundaries between professional responsibilities, relationships and personal life.

    • Exploring imposter feelings, fear of failure, perfectionism and the need to constantly achieve.

    • Support through promotion, career changes, redundancy, relocation or questioning what comes next.

    • Building the ability to manage pressure, navigate setbacks and stay emotionally balanced when the demands of work and life begin to feel overwhelming.

PSYCHOTHERAPY FOR RELATIONSHIPS & LIFE CHANGES

Demanding careers and busy professional lives can have an impact far beyond the workplace. Psychotherapy can provide a confidential space to explore relationship difficulties, communication challenges and major changes in your personal or professional life.

Whether you're struggling to balance a demanding career with your relationships and family life, experiencing conflict or communication difficulties, or feeling stuck and uncertain about what comes next, psychotherapy can help you understand what is happening and identify a way forward.

We help with:

    • Exploring challenges within relationships, including conflict, intimacy, trust and recurring patterns.

    • Developing healthier ways to communicate, manage disagreements and establish stronger relationships.

    • Creating healthier boundaries between work, relationships and personal life, particularly when professional demands are high.

    • Support through promotions, career changes, relocation, relationship changes and other significant life transitions.

    • Managing the demands of parenting and family relationships alongside a busy or high-pressure career.

    • Understanding why success on paper may not translate into feeling fulfilled, and exploring what you want from the next stage of your life.

PSYCHOTHERAPY FOR ADDICTION & RECOVERY

High-pressure professional environments can sometimes encourage unhealthy ways of coping. Long hours, stress, pressure to perform and the need to constantly achieve can make it easy for behaviours that initially provide relief or reward to become increasingly difficult to control.

Psychotherapy can provide a confidential, non-judgemental space to understand these patterns, address the issues that sit beneath them and develop healthier ways of coping and moving forward.

We help with:

    • Exploring the need to constantly work, achieve or perform, and the difficulty of switching off or stepping away from professional responsibilities.

    • Understanding the pressure to be perfect, fear of failure and the belief that self-worth depends on success or achievement.

    • Addressing patterns of alcohol or substance use that may have developed as a way of managing stress, pressure or difficult emotions.

    • Exploring problematic gambling and the emotional, psychological or behavioural patterns that can sit behind it.

    • Understanding unhealthy relationships with phones, social media, gaming or other technology that can affect work, relationships and wellbeing.

    • Identifying behaviours used to manage stress or difficult emotions and developing healthier, more sustainable alternatives.

    • Working through the impact of difficult or traumatic experiences and understanding how they may continue to influence thoughts, emotions and behaviour.

    • Providing therapeutic support to help process traumatic experiences and manage the ongoing psychological effects of PTSD.

Hear From
Our Founder

Marcus Scutt

"I am an integrative psychotherapist based in Canary Wharf, London. My journey into Psychotherapy was not straightforward. Through my own lived experience of pre-verbal trauma, depression and addiction, it led me not only to my knees and into the rooms of 12-Step recovery meetings, but also therapy in my mid-20s. This process of exploration and healing changed my life.

"It gave me valuable insights into a deeper understanding of myself, my past, my unresolved issues and the patterns that had moulded me. More than that, it showed me that change is possible, no matter how hopeless we feel. This journey led me to train as a therapist myself, and over the years, my work has included numerous clinical and abstinence-based settings. My experience has spanned working in mental health and substance misuse organisations, with roles as a recovery support worker, group facilitator, trainee counsellor, and qualified psychotherapist. Additionally, supporting individuals and clients in various mutual aid and abstinence-based groups.

"During this time, I have had the privilege of working with others facing a wide range of issues – trauma, addiction, grief and loss, anxiety, depression and more. My approach to therapy is grounded in empathy, honesty, and presence. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all method. Each person brings a unique story, and my role is to meet them where they are, without judgment.

"Beyond my work, I am a husband and a father. These relationships continue to shape me, reminding me that growth is an ongoing process and that the connections we build with others are central to healing. I have been sober for many years now, and I understand that recovery is about more than stopping destructive behaviours, it’s about rebuilding a life with meaning, connection and self-acceptance. Over time, I have learned that healing isn’t always about fixing; it’s about understanding, accepting, and personal growth. I am always learning from my clients, my own experience and my ongoing personal development and study, because what I do is always a process and not an event.

"Within my work, I have helped others find clarity and strength in their experience. I have seen time and time again how people, even in their darkest hours, have the capacity for change and transformation. If you’re someone who’s struggling or if you’re curious about how therapy might help, I welcome you to reach out. You don’t have to carry it alone."

CALM Counselling And Life Management
An integrative approach

We take an integrative approach to psychotherapy, drawing on different therapeutic approaches to create a process that is tailored to your individual needs.

CALM Counselling And Life Management
Practical psychotherapy for real life

Psychotherapy isn't about simply talking about your problems. It's about developing a deeper understanding of yourself and finding ways to make meaningful changes in your everyday life.

Together, we can explore how you manage pressure, relationships, expectations and difficult emotions, while developing healthier ways of coping that can be applied both inside and outside the workplace.

CALM Counselling And Life Management

We’re honoured to support people through meaningful change. Here’s what some of our clients have shared about their experience with CALM Counselling and Life Management.

"Marcus is an astonishingly accomplished therapist and counsellor. He's been part of my life for 3 years now and has helped me through some of the biggest challenges I've ever faced. Would recommend him to anyone looking for, well, calm and life management."

Gurbir T.

"I have been getting psychotherapy from CALM for many months now. The therapy sessions are helping hugely with my recovery from addiction. His calm and knowledgeable approach is exactly what I need. Someone who knows what they’re talking about but also listens. Couldn’t recommend them enough."

Adam H.

"I can’t recommend Calm Counselling enough. From the moment I walked in, I felt seen, heard, and supported. My therapist, Marcus, was incredibly empathetic and created a safe space where I could really open up. Every session has helped me gain more clarity and tools to manage my triggers and navigate life’s challenges. Marcus was so understanding that most of my sessions needed to be video calls due to my health and various operations. I have grown so much since starting here. Thank you, Calm Counselling, for making such a difference in my life and continuing to do so with every session."

Paige B.

“I initially felt I didn’t really have a reason to see a psychotherapist. My career was going well, but the pressure and long hours were starting to affect my sleep, relationships and ability to switch off. Working with Marcus gave me a confidential space to step back and understand what was really going on. The Canary Wharf location made it incredibly convenient around work, and the sessions have helped me feel more balanced, confident and in control.”
